While in Guelph this past weekend I visited my mom's quilt shop, Greenwood Quiltery. It's located in a large old home, with the fabric and yarn shop on the first floor, workshops held on the lower level, and a gallery on the upper level. A new show had just gone up in the gallery, Masterworks Southwest. It's a juried traveling exhibition curated by the Ontario Crafts Council, on display until October 30th. If you are in the Guelph area it's worth checking out. My favorite pieces were Daniel Durocher's bird house made of wood and truck bumper, and the large steel pinecone by Floyd Elzinga. And in the shop I was dreaming of things to make with Anna Maria Horner's printed cotton voile, shown above on the right. Have you felt these in person? They are so soft and silky and beautiful.
